Bhubaneswar, 8 June (H.S.):A tragic incident occurred on Sunday morning at Kaimundi village under Pathapur panchayat in Banki police limits of Cuttack district, where a minor girl went missing in the Mahanadi River.

According to local sources, four children — one boy and three girls — had gone to bathe in the river along with their grandfather when the mishap took place. All four were reportedly swept away by the strong river current.

The grandfather, with assistance from local villagers and a nearby boatman, managed to rescue three of the children. However, one girl remains untraceable despite search efforts.

The rescued children were immediately shifted to the Banki Sub-Divisional Hospital for medical attention.

Local police and fire services have launched a search operation to trace the missing girl. Further investigation is underway.
