Drinking water crisis has arisen in 14 wards of Buniadpur Municipality. Allegedly, PHE taps have not reached all the wards yet. In some wards taps have reached, but drinking water is not available. PHE drinking water service is running in only four wards near Buniadpur bus stand. According to the city residents, there is a PHE reservoir in Mirzadpur area of the city. From there, drinking water taps have reached every house in Narayanpur, Rangapukur, Government Colony, Selimabad, Haldi, Mirzadpur areas of the city. But water is not coming from most of the taps. Mark 2 tubewells of the municipality have also become useless at several places. In such a situation, the municipality has to send drinking water tankers to about 14 wards every day. Municipal Administrator Kamal Sarkar said, There is a water problem in the city. To keep the service normal, we are delivering drinking water tanks to the wards. With the help of the Municipal and Urban Development Department, the municipality will provide piped drinking water service in 14 wards of the city with ₹55 crore allocated under the Amrit (2) project. Municipal officials have set a target to complete the project within the financial year 2025-26. The work of Amrit (2) project will start in the city. ₹55 crore has been allocated for this. Work will start very soon. There will be no problem of drinking water next year, he added. Manoranjan Pramanik, a resident of Haldi area of Buniyadpur city, said that a water tap has reached the house. But water is not coming. Even the ordinary tubewell is not working. We have to take water from the municipality tanker.
