Sambhal, 8 June (HS): Samajwadi Party MP Zia Ur Rehman Barq
denies electricity theft claims as politically motivated. The Allahabad High Court granted relief,
halting the huge electricity bill demand.
Separately, the court maintained a survey order in a mosque-temple
conflict in Sambhal, bolstering judicial power despite controversy. Zia Ur Rehman Barq, a Samajwadi Party MP from
Sambhal, has angrily refuted claims of energy theft against him, calling them
completely unfounded and politically driven.
Barq stated that his house had been without power for six months,
raising worries about the honesty of Uttar Pradesh's electrical authorities. Barq
added that the Allahabad High Court granted some relief after determining that
the complaint was filed illegally.
The court postponed an order demanding about Rs 2 crore for
his energy bill, charging him of improper electricity consumption, for 4138
days. Justices Saumitra Dayal Singh and
Sandeep Jain ordered the restoration of power to Barq's Sambhal house, which
had been unplugged since December 2024.
