Delhi, 7 June (H.S.): Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, announced a Rs 151 crore unconditional grant to the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, where he graduated. During a visit to ICT for the publication of Professor MM Sharma's biography, Ambani shared how Sharma's teachings motivated him and highlighted his influence on India's economic reforms. Prof. Sharma advocated for unshackling the Indian industry from the license-permit raj, promoting global competitiveness.
Ambani credited him as a key figure in the rise of the Indian chemical industry, referring to him as 'Rashtra Guru'. “Like my father Dhirubhai Ambani, he had a burning desire to change Indian industry from scarcity to global leadership,” said Ambani.
Responding to Sharma's request, Ambani revealed the grant, emphasizing the importance of following Sharma's guidance and vision for ICT’s future.
