Guwahati, 7 June (HS): A massive landslide occurred in the Rupnagar area of Guwahati metropolis in the early hours of Saturday, in which two houses were completely destroyed due to the fall of huge rocks and debris from the hill.

According to local sources, a person named Maneshwar Rajvanshi has been buried under the debris in this accident and no trace of him has been found so far.

Teams of SDRF, Assam Police and Fire Department are continuously engaged in relief and rescue work at the spot. Emergency service officials are also present on the spot and the search for the missing person is going on.

The administration has appealed to the local people to stay away from the hilly areas and high alert has been declared in the area.
