Chennai, 7 June (H.S.): A man from Coimbatore has lodged a complaint against the kin of a Member of Parliament (MP), accusing them of cheating him out of Rs 13 lakh. According to the complaint, the accused had promised lucrative business opportunities and assured high returns on investment.
The victim, a young entrepreneur from Coimbatore, alleged that the accused had taken the money but failed to deliver on their promises. After repeated requests for refund, the victim approached the police, leading to the registration of a case.
The police investigation led to the arrest of the MP's kin, who are currently facing charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust. The case has sparked concerns about the misuse of influence and power for personal gain.
Latest Status: The police have recovered a portion of the amount and are working to retrieve the remaining sum. The accused is being interrogated, and further investigation is underway to determine the extent of their involvement in similar cases.
