Amravati, 07 June (HS): A 26-year-old woman was duped

of over Rs 25 lakhs, assuring good returns on investment by a person who identified

himself as Jasmit Singh, as a representative of New Zealand Gold Merchants

Limited. An online account in the name of Vaishnavi Sonar was opened through

which the complainant transferred Rs 25,53,478.

Initially, she was given the returns to gain confidence. Later, she realized that the money could not be withdrawn from the account. She

later lodged a complaint with Amravati’s Benoda Police Station.

Police have registered an offence against the

unidentified person and are investigating.
