Varanasi, 7 June (HS): Ajay Rai,

the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief, accused the arrest of two local party activists

on allegations of robbery, theft, and molestation of being a political

conspiracy to discredit him. The two Congress activists are known to be close

to Rai. This is part of a political effort to slander me. Rai stated that this is the third time that

the complaint has been filed. Police arrested two local Congress members on

allegations of robbery, theft, and molestation on Friday. The arrests were made

on Thursday in response to a complaint from a lady who said she was harassed

and forcibly evicted from her store in the Chetganj area of district, according

to officials.

SHO) Dilip Kumar Mishra stated that

the complainant, Sachina Khatoon, a Chetganj resident, rented a store in Hathua

Market from one Sanjay Singh and maintained a boutique there. Khatoon claimed that when Sanjay Singh died

during the Covid-19 outbreak, his pals, Anand Pandey and Amit Pathak,

intimidated her and demanded money as security payments. When she declined, they reportedly forced her

to leave the business and harassed her, he claimed. Khatoon said she also secured a court-ordered

stay of eviction. Despite the May

injunction, Pandey and Pathak broke into her business and stole all of her

goods, she alleged. When she and her

girls refused, they were berated and tormented, according to police, citing her

complaint.

“Anand Pandey and Amit Pathak are

known to be close colleagues of Congress state president Ajay Rai. They face

charges of robbery, theft, and molestation.

Both were caught on Thursday and appeared in court, where they were

sentenced to prison,” according to the SHO.
