Nagpur, 07 June (HS): Education plays an important
role in women’s empowerment. The government has been implementing various schemes
to encourage girls to pursue education. Under the RBL’s Ummid project, bicycles and
school materials are given to girl students. The activity is appreciable, Chief
Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday. One hundred cycles were
distributed by him from the CSR Fund. He also inaugurated the Dhanwantari Health
Camp on the occasion.
The programme was held in Nagpur on
Saturday. Legislators Sandip Joshi and Pravin Datke, RBL’s Treasurer Ashok
Chandak, Managing Board Directors, and others were present.
The cycles were given to the needy girl students to
facilitate their attendance the school. A free health check-up was also carried
out. Free spectacles were also given to the needy, and information about
maintaining health was given.
Fadnavis said that he was satisfied to see the
happiness on the faces of girls in Gadchiroli’s remote areas, while handing
them bicycles. Such activities will help in realising the dream of girls
in pursuing higher education.
Chandak said that 1,800 bicycles will be distributed
this year. Last year, 4,800 cycles were given to the needy girl students, and
assured to continue with such social activities under the CSR. He provided information
about the activities of the RBL.
