Kyiv (Ukraine), June 06(HS): Russia has inflicted considerable damage in Kyiv through a drone and cruise missile attack, affecting several metro rail tracks and injuring at least three civilians. The Ukrainian Air Force reported ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv, prompting the activation of the city’s air defense system. Kyiv's Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed the injuries and recommended that residents seek shelter; two individuals were hospitalized while one received on-site treatment. Taimur Takachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, noted damage to metro tracks between two stations and reported no fires or additional casualties.
Further attacks targeted regions including Lutsk, Chernihiv, Lviv, and Rivne, with ongoing assaults in Chernihiv. This escalation followed the failure of U.S.-mediated peace negotiations as high-level discussions between Ukraine and Russia took place in Istanbul. A subsequent phone conversation occurred between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. Additionally, ABC News disclosed that satellite imagery indicated that at least 11 Russian bombers and a large transport aircraft sustained significant damage from a drone attack launched by Ukraine, an operation praised by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for its historical significance.
