New Delhi, June 6 (H.S): Elon Musk's company Starlink has obtained a license from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to provide satellite internet services in India, pending approval from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe). Official sources confirmed that Starlink received a Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS) license, making it the third company to do so, following Bharti Airtel-Intelsat's OneWeb and Reliance Jio. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia mentioned that a satellite communication license for Starlink was forthcoming, with spectrum allocation set to occur soon. Starlink has aimed to enter the Indian market since 2021 but faced regulatory hurdles and previously issued refunds for pre-orders.
