Srinagar, 6 June (H.S.): The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Regimental Centre in Srinagar today held the Passing Out Parade (POP) for its fifth batch of Agniveers, marking the formal induction of 326 recruits into the Indian Army after 31 weeks of intensive training.

Senior Army officers, instructors, and emotional family members gathered at the regimental grounds to witness the attestation ceremony. The new Agniveers, who underwent rigorous physical, mental, and tactical training, marched in unison as they joined the ranks of the Indian Army.

The reviewing officer, a senior Army official, congratulated the recruits and acknowledged the role of their families. “You are very fortunate to be part of Agniveer Batch No. 5 in the history of the JAK LI Regiment. From today, you carry the legacy of this proud regiment on your shoulders,” he said.

“You are the future of the Indian Army, and the country expects a lot from you. I thank your parents and families for their support. May Allah, Waheguru, Buddha, and God bless your journey ahead,” he added.

Agniveers expressed pride and determination. Akhter Habib, from Kupwara district, said, “Today is a proud moment for us. After 31 weeks of struggle, we stand tall. Training had its ups and downs, but we kept looking ahead. My message to the youth is to work hard in any field and stay committed to your goals.”

Another Agniveer from Kupwara said, “Yes, I completed 31 weeks of training. I am proud to be selected as an Agniveer. This is just the beginning of our responsibility to serve and protect the nation.”

For many families, the event carried deep emotional significance. Niamatullah, a resident of Uri whose son was among the inductees, said, “I want to thank all the Army officers-the teachers of our sons. They have worked hard to bring our boys to this point. We live under constant shelling from Pakistan in Uri. It is hard to live there. We often have to move to Srinagar or Baramulla. That is why it is necessary to send our sons to the army. We are very happy and proud.”

Bashir Ahmad Bhatt, from Magam Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, whose son completed training today, said, “I am very proud. My son got a chance to serve the country. I want my second son to join too. In today’s time of high unemployment, it is important for our youth to consider this path.”

A young woman whose husband was inducted said, “My husband has become an Agniveer. I am proud of him. Our entire family is in the Army. Today, more youth are keen to join the forces. The thinking has changed.”
