Kolkata, 05 June (H.S.): West Bengal has recorded 106 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 538, according to the latest data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday morning.
Encouragingly, 61 people recovered from the infection during the same period. The official death toll remains unchanged at 1, with no new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.
In light of the rise in infections, the state government has stepped up public health surveillance and reinforced preventive measures. Medical experts have urged the public not to become complacent, warning that even a small lapse in caution could lead to a resurgence in transmission.
The state health department has advised residents to continue following COVID-appropriate behaviour, including regular hand washing, wearing masks in crowded areas, and maintaining basic hygiene protocols.
