West Bengal Assembly to Table Resolution Honouring Indian Army’s Valor During Monsoon Session

Kolkata, 05 June (H.S.):

A special resolution lauding the bravery and precision of the Indian Armed Forces will be tabled in the upcoming monsoon session of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. The resolution will focus on India’s retaliatory strikes carried out on May 7 against terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, including two from West Bengal.

Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee is scheduled to introduce the resolution on June 10. The decision to bring the resolution was reached during an all-party meeting of the Business Advisory Committee held on Thursday.

The resolution will commend the Indian military for its bold action and strongly condemn the Pahalgam terror attack. Although the draft of the resolution does not explicitly mention the name Operation Sindoor, it is evident that the proposal is intended to express the Assembly's support for the military operation conducted in May.

A two-hour discussion on the resolution has been scheduled for June 10. The monsoon session of the Assembly will commence on June 9 and is expected to continue for two weeks.

Notably, under the operation believed to be codenamed “Operation Sindoor,” the Indian armed forces reportedly launched coordinated aerial and ground strikes targeting multiple terrorist hideouts across Pakistan and PoK.
