Navi Mumbai, 05 June (HS): Navi Mumbai Municipality
has declared 527 buildings dangerous within its jurisdiction, under Section 264
(1) (2) (3) (4) of the Municipal Corporation Act. The buildings were declared
dangerous following a survey conducted during 2024-2025.
The structural audit of buildings used for more than
30 years must be carried out by the occupants and a report submitted to the
municipal corporation. The responsibility of conducting the structural audit falls
of the society, the owner, or the tenant of the premises in use. In case of failure, a
fine of Rs 25,000 or property tax, whichever is higher, can be imposed.
The list of registered structural auditors is
available on the corporation’s website www.nmmc.gov.in.
The report should be submitted by September 30, 2025. The occupant or the
society or the owner will be responsible for any untoward incident, said the
municipal authorities.
