Delhi, 5 June (H.S.): On World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a tree plantation drive at Bhagwan Mahavir Vanasthali Park in Delhi, reinforcing the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative. He emphasized the significance of reforesting the Aravalli range through the Aravalli Green Wall project, acknowledging the region's age and geographic span across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. The Prime Minister recognized the environmental challenges facing the Aravalli range, pledging government commitment to address them. He proposed new planting techniques, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas with limited space, alongside traditional methods. All plantation activities will be geo-tagged and monitored via the Meri LiFE portal. He encouraged the youth to actively engage in enhancing the planet's greenery.

In a post on X, he stated that today's efforts will strengthen the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative and highlighted the necessity to rejuvenate the Aravalli range, addressing issues such as improving water systems, controlling dust storms, and preventing the Thar desert's eastward expansion. Modi stressed the need for collaborative work with local administrations and urged the younger generation to join the movement for greater green cover on the planet.
