Bengaluru, 05 June(HS):

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, the ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR), Bengaluru organized a tree plantation drive on its campus to promote environmental awareness and responsibility.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Director, scientists, faculty members, students, and staff of the institute.

The plantation activity was led by Dr. Tusar Kanti Behera, Director, of ICAR-IIHR, who joined the institute community in planting saplings across the campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Behera emphasized the importance of nurturing nature, stating, “All of us must enjoy nature by nourishing it—not at the cost of it.”

In alignment with the day’s spirit, the “ICAR-IIHR Biodiversity Campaign – IIHR BiodiVerse” was also launched.

This week-long campaign, running from June 5th to 12th, 2025, aims to document and celebrate the rich biodiversity within the IIHR campus.

All staff and students are encouraged to participate proactively by submitting high-quality photographs of flora and fauna observed on campus to the repository. These contributions will form part of the IIHR Biodiversity Database.
