Srinagar, 5 June (H.S.): Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday visited the Chenab Bridge to assess the final preparations ahead of its formal inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
The high-level visit focused on reviewing safety, structural readiness, and logistical arrangements at the site of the world’s highest railway bridge, which is a landmark component of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) project.
Officials briefed both dignitaries about the current status, trial run results, and security measures put in place for the historic event. The bridge is expected to play a transformative role in enhancing rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh wrote, “Last minute touches at the site of the inauguration of the world’s highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge, by PM Sh @narendramodi tomorrow. #JammuAndKashmir.”
