Guwahati, 5 June (HS): The Barak river is flowing well above the danger mark. Large areas of southern Assam i.e. Barak Valley have been submerged due to this. Normal life has been affected by flood water. Both rail and road transport in Barak Valley are facing severe disruption, especially traffic on major routes of Panchgram, Katigora and Salchapara has been badly affected.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has canceled, rescheduled and short-terminated several rail services due to flooding on the tracks. A statement issued confirmed that the Dullabcherra-Silchar passenger train (No. 55687) and Dharmanagar-Agartala passenger train (No. 55676) will remain canceled on Thursday. Passengers coming from outside the region and alighting at Badarpur are facing a challenging and risky journey to reach Silchar.

Due to submerged railway lines and inaccessible roads, many passengers are having to rely on boats and walking to complete their journey.
