Bankura, 4 June (H.S.): Three youths drowned in the river while bathing in the river at Randiha under Sonamukhi police station in Bankura district. As per information, seven friends drowned while bathing in the river on Wednesday. Local people immediately rescued four people. Three are still missing. The police and local people are conducting a search operation in the river in search of the missing people.
According to local and police sources, seven friends from Kanksa area of West Burdwan district had gone to bathe in a river at Randiha Wednesday afternoon. While bathing, all seven suddenly started drowning. As soon as the matter came to light, the local people rushed for the rescue operation. Initially, four people were rescued with the help of boats of local fishermen, but three are still missing. It has been learned that the names of the missing youths are Surjeet Vishwas, Jitu Adhikari and Abhijeet Gayen. All three are 17 years old. At present, the police of Sonamukhi police station of Bankura and Budbud police station of West Burdwan district are searching the river with the help of local people for the three missing people. The disaster management force has also been informed. Local resident Narottam Roy said, Many people had come for a walk. They had entered the river after consuming alcohol.
