Ahmedabad, June 4 (H.S.): Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched their first IPL trophy by defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs in 2025. Star player Virat Kohli, who has been with the franchise since IPL's inception, was emotional as he lifted the trophy for the first time. Amidst the celebrations, Virat emphasized his love for Test cricket, stating that this victory, while significant, is five levels below the importance he places on Test matches.

During an interview with Matthew Hayden, he urged future generations to respect Test cricket, highlighting its value in earning respect globally. He conveyed that performing well in Test cricket garners recognition, making it essential for players' reputations. Virat, who retired from Test cricket in May after scoring 9,230 runs in 123 matches with 30 centuries, noted he could have reached 10,000 runs but chose to retire before achieving that milestone.
