New Delhi, June 3 (H.S.): The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is going to launch the Aravalli Green Wall campaign for the conservation of biodiversity across four states. On June 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this campaign. As part of the One Tree in the Name of Mother initiative, this campaign will also be expanded with tree planting at Mahavir Jayanti Park. Under the Aravalli Green Wall campaign, work will be done on soil moisture conservation, biodiversity, environmental change, wetland conservation, and protected areas, among others. A work plan has been prepared accordingly by identifying forest and non-forest areas. This plan will emphasize community participation, capacity building, plantation of local species, and the conservation of pastures and water bodies. An official from the Central Environment Ministry said on Tuesday that the Aravalli is not just a mountain range, but a flow of our culture and valorous history that has been a source of inspiration for us for centuries. This campaign is being launched with the aim of restoring the landscape for future generations and preserving biodiversity. This campaign will involve four states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Gujarat. There are 22 wildlife sanctuaries located within the Aravalli hills, which also include several bird sanctuaries.
