New Delhi, June 3 (H.S.): Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan stated that Pakistan was informed on the same day of the 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7. He emphasized that success in military operations is about achieving objectives rather than measuring loss. Specific data regarding the losses incurred will be shared based on technical parameters. Addressing a seminar on 'Future War and Warfare' at Savitribai Phule University, he reiterated that Pakistan was made aware of the operation's commencement. He warned that any attack by Pakistan would be met with a stronger response. When asked about the losses during Operation Sindoor, the CDS remarked that discussing losses is inappropriate, likening it to irrelevant statistics in a cricket match after a win. He promised to provide detailed information on the destroyed aircraft and radars soon.
He detailed that on May 10, Pakistan aimed to force India to surrender within 48 hours, launching multiple attacks while India focused on targeting terrorist bases. Contrary to Pakistan's expectations, the operation concluded in about 8 hours, after which they sought negotiations. General Chauhan highlighted the historical significance of Operation Sindoor in air warfare, showcasing India's capability for precise and aggressive operations against adversaries, effectively navigating air defenses. He noted that Operation Sindoor is ongoing and characterized the current pause in hostilities as temporary, urging continued vigilance. He conveyed the desire to avoid prolonged conflict, referencing the extensive costs and disruptions experienced during Operation Parakram, which lasted almost nine months. The CDS estimated that Pakistan's losses were substantial, leading to their request for a ceasefire to prevent further deterioration.
