Land Record Assistant caught red-handed while accepting bribe in Nalbari


Nalbari (Assam), 3 June (HS): The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption, Assam on Tuesday took a major action against corruption in the Nalbari Revenue Circle Office and arrested Land Record Assistant Nagen Chandra Das red-handed while accepting bribe.

According to the information, Nagen Chandra Das was accused by a complainant that he was demanding a bribe of ₹15,000 in exchange for allowing the sale of land. Later this amount was reduced to ₹9,000. The complainant decided not to give the bribe and contacted the Vigilance Department and demanded legal action.

The department team laid a trap in the Nalbari Revenue Circle Office on Tuesday. As per the plan, as soon as Nagen Chandra Das accepted a bribe of nine thousand rupees, he was arrested on the spot. The bribe amount was recovered and seized from his pocket, in which independent witnesses were present.

The accused has been arrested after getting sufficient evidence. In this case, ACB PS Case No. 35/2025 has been registered at ACB police station under Section 7(A) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Further legal action is underway in the case.
