Patna, June 3 (H.S.): A storm with heavy rain led to significant devastation in Bihar, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals in Siwan district on Monday evening, including two women and an elderly man. The storm caused numerous trees to fall, leading to the collapse of walls and roofs. In Bahadur village, 30-year-old laborer Shahid Akhtar died after falling from a roof. In Basawan village, 55-year-old Nandkishore Singh was killed by a falling neem tree, and 40-year-old Alimun Begum died similarly from a mahua tree in Vishunpur village. Businessman Yusuf Ali, 35, was crushed by a banyan tree in Bazitpur.
In Lakhnoura, 52-year-old Kalpati Devi died under debris from her collapsing house, while Chandravanti Devi from Madhopur succumbed to injuries after a mango tree fell on her. Lastly, 75-year-old Shriram Prasad died when his hut collapsed. The state government announced 4 lakh rupees compensation for each affected family and plans to assess the damage.
