03 June (HS): The body of a chief constable of the Government Railway Police
(GRP) was discovered on railway tracks around 50 metres from Bareilly Junction
early Tuesday, according to authorities. They stated he looked to have been ran
over by a train, although it is unclear which one. Around 4 a.m., a loco pilot
noticed a body on the tracks and reported it to police. Senior Superintendent
of Police (Bareilly), Anurag Arya, who arrived on the scene, revealed that the
deceased was Head Constable Vineet Kumar, who is now assigned to GRP Bareilly
Junction. Vineet Kumar, the Head Constable at the time, was on train duty.
Arya
said that the victim was discovered in uniform, with his service gun, mobile
phone, wallet, and a bag at his side. The constable, who is around 40 years
old, was born in Farrukhabad district and now lives in Hathras. They have been alerted about the situation.
The
corpse has been submitted for a post-mortem examination, and all
government-issued things, including the handgun with live rounds, wallet,
phone, tablet, and bag, have been safely stored at the GRP Bareilly police
station, according to authorities. The forensic field unit has collected
evidence from the scene, and an investigation is currently underway.
