Bhubaneswar, 3 June (H.S.): In a tragic incident, four labourers lost their lives due to asphyxiation while working on a septic tank in Padalguda village under Nandahandi block of Nabarangpur district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Lalu Rana, Trilochan Bharat, N. Santu, and Amir Khura. According to reports, the labourers were engaged in cleaning a septic tank when they collapsed due to suspected oxygen deficiency inside the confined space.
Upon receiving information, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and immediately rescued the unconscious labourers. They were then shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared all four brought dead.
Authorities are expected to launch an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the tragic deaths.
