Morigaon (Assam), 3 June (HS): Flood water has entered in the 20% of the Pobitora Sanctuary, a major habitat of one-horned rhinoceros. Due to which a dire situation has arisen in front of the wild animals.

The flood situation is gradually becoming complicated in the entire state. In this regard, the flood has also affected Morigaon district terribly. Pobitora Sanctuary has also come under the grip of flood.

According to the information received from Pobitora Forest Department, there has been no harm to the animals till date. Meanwhile, a large area of Mayang has been submerged. Road connectivity has been lost in various areas of Pakaria.

The standing crops in the fields have also been submerged in flood water. In view of the flood, the Forest Department is being vigilant about the safety of the wild animals migrating to safe areas and any activity of illegal hunters.-----------------
