Chief Minister Inaugurates and Lays Foundation Stones for ₹205 Crore Worth of Public Welfare Projects in Deogarh


Bhubaneswar, 3 June (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, during his visit to Deogarh district today, inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 15 public welfare projects worth approximately ₹205 crore. These projects include 11 initiatives focused on strengthening the healthcare sector and 4 related to the development of educational infrastructure.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister formally inaugurated a newly constructed 300-bed hospital and dedicated it to the public. This new medical facility is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in the region.

₹41.17 Crore Announced for Tendu Leaf Collectors and Workers

In a major welfare announcement, the Chief Minister declared a support package of ₹41.17 crore for tendu leaf pluckers and binders across the state. Under this scheme, each worker will receive ₹160 for footwear, ₹200 for carrying cloths, ₹100 for seasonal staff caps, and ₹700 for mosquito nets and blankets. The scheme is projected to benefit nearly 9 lakh people involved in tendu leaf collection and related activities.

Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi emphasized the untapped development potential of Deogarh district. “We are committed to leveraging these strengths to integrate Deogarh into the mainstream of Odisha’s development,” he stated. He reiterated his government’s focus on ensuring balanced and proportional development across all 30 districts of Odisha.

“Our priority is to ensure that even the last person in society has access to basic amenities like education, healthcare, drinking water, electricity, and transportation,” said the Chief Minister. He underlined that holistic development across sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, investment, and employment is essential to building a prosperous Odisha.

“Our vision is clear—achieving a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047. We are working tirelessly to turn this vision into reality,” he added.

Highlighting the government's commitment, the Chief Minister noted that only nine days remain for the completion of his government’s first year in office. “In this one year, we have initiated several impactful and welfare-oriented steps for the comprehensive development of our districts and the state,” he said.

The event was graced by Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Deogarh MLA Shri Romañch Ranjan Biswal, and other dignitaries. Deogarh District Collector Shri Kabindra Chandra Sahu delivered the welcome address, while Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Bishwomohan Mishra presented the vote of thanks.
