Bhubaneswar, 3 June (H.S.): Odisha-cadre IAS officer Ashish Thakare has been appointed as Director in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Central Government. His appointment has been approved under the Central Staffing Scheme, as per a communication from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.
A 2011-batch officer, Thakare will serve in the central deputation role for a period of five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The DoPT has directed the Odisha Government to relieve Thakare from his current responsibilities with immediate effect, enabling him to take up his new posting in New Delhi without delay.
This comes shortly after the appointment of senior bureaucrat Nikunja Bihari Dhal as Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, marking a continued presence of Odisha-cadre officers in key central positions.
