Colombo, June 28(HS): Sri Lanka has won the two-match Test series against Bangladesh by 1-0. In the second Test played at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, the host team secured a spectacular victory by an innings and 78 runs. The hero of this win was left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya, who took his 12th five-wicket haul in his Test career, dismantling the opposition's batting lineup.

The fourth day began with Bangladesh at 115/6, needing 97 runs to force Sri Lanka to bat again. However, the match ended in just half an hour. Jayasuriya picked up three of the last four wickets, and Bangladesh's second innings collapsed for 133 runs.In the first innings, Nishanka scored a century, while Chandimal and Mendis provided crucial half-centuries. Earlier, Sri Lanka scored 458 runs in the first innings.

Opener Pathum Nishanka struck a brilliant century, while Dinesh Chandimal (93 runs) and Kusal Mendis (84 runs) made significant contributions. Bangladesh's first innings ended at 247 runs.Jayasuriya wreaked havoc again, taking 5 wickets. On the fourth day, he left no stone unturned in wrapping up Bangladesh's innings. He first had Liton Das (14) caught out by Kusal Mendis, then forced Nayem Hasan (5) to play aggressively, and Mendis stumped him. He caught Taijul Islam (6) himself. The last wicket was that of Ebadot Hossain (6), who was lbw out by Tharindu Ratnayake, thus concluding the match.

Jayasuriya gave away 56 runs while taking 5 wickets, while captain Dhananjaya de Silva and Ratnayake took 2 wickets each. The first match of this two-match series was played in Galle, which ended in a draw. However, in the second Test, Sri Lanka completely dominated and secured the series win.
