Mumbai,
28 June (HS): Seven Bangladeshi nationals, six of whom are women, were detained
by police in various parts of Mumbai and Pune on Saturday for unlawfully
residing in the country, according to an official. A MIDC police squad nabbed
Bayajid Khan (24), who had entered India through Guwahati, Assam and was
staying in Palghar, earlier this week, according to an official.
He
said Khan, who worked in the western neighborhood of Andheri, informed the
police that he had helped six Bangladeshi women get housing and jobs in Pune
and Mumbai. According to the information, police apprehended five ladies from
Pune and one from Mumbai, and a complaint is also being filed against a guy who
rented a flat to the women in Pune.
He
stated that the ladies worked at beauty salons, with some also working as
maids. The accused utilized a prohibited
app to contact with their relatives and family members in Bangladesh. The
suspects, Bayajid Shaikh (24), Nasrin Begam (38), Rojina Akhtar (39), Kakoli
Akhtar (25), Roma Begam (31), Pakhi Hussain (25) and Kohinoor Akhtar (26), have
been remanded in judicial prison, according to an official.
According
to the authorities, Shaikh was responsible for transporting Bangladeshi women
to several Indian locations without any legal papers. Since January of this
year, 373 FIRs have been launched against Bangladeshi nationals, with 589
detained, 532 deported, and 237 convicted, according to officials.
