Amravati,

28 June (HS): Two people have been booked and one arrested for allegedly aiding

the suicide of a farmer in Maharashtra's Amravati district, police said on

Saturday. According to officials, the accused reportedly harassed and

intimidated the farmer after lending him money. He stated that based on the

victim's wife's allegation, police filed a case against brothers Prakash and

Atul Raghuvanshi under Section 108 (abetment to suicide) and other pertinent

sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Gajanan Dahat, a farmer from Bhatkuli

in Amravati, obtained a loan from Prakash Raghuvanshi, according to officials. According

to the lawsuit, the brothers continually harassed Dahat, intimidated him, and

attacked him with casteist insults. Fed up with incessant pestering, Dehat

reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself on March 16, according to

officials, who added that the case was filed earlier this week and one of the brothers

was detained.
