New Delhi, June 25 (H.S.): Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah addressed 'Samvidhan Hatya Divas' on X, characterizing the Emergency as a 'dark period' driven by Congress's desire for power. He highlighted the ordeal faced by citizens beginning June 25, 1975, and indicated that the Modi government has designated this day as 'Samvidhan Hatya Divas.'

The 'Emergency' was the 'dark period' of the Congress's hunger for power. The suffering and torture endured by the citizens during the Emergency declared on June 25, 1975, is meant to be known by the new generation; for this reason, the Modi government has named this day 'Samvidhan Hatya Divas'.

This day signifies that when power turns tyrannical, the public has the strength to overthrow it. The Emergency was not a national necessity but a reflection of the Congress and one individual's anti-democratic mentality. The freedom of the press was crushed, the judiciary was handicapped, and social activists were imprisoned. The citizens raised the clarion call to 'Vacate the Throne' and overthrew the tyrannical Congress. A heartfelt tribute to all the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in this struggle. #SamvidhanHatyaDiwas, the post reads.

Amit Shah emphasized that dictatorial power can be overthrown by the strength of the people, asserting that the Emergency was a manifestation of an anti-democratic mindset rather than a necessity. He pointed out the suppression of press freedom, the shackling of the judiciary, and the imprisonment of social activists.

He recently participated in a program commemorating '50 Years of Emergency,' where he honored those who opposed the Emergency. Shah emphasized that a person's concealed tyrannical nature reveals itself during emergencies, something the youth must understand. He asserted that the Emergency marked Congress's conspiracy to replace multi-party democracy with a one-party dictatorship, driven by an insatiable hunger for power, with no legitimate external or internal threats present.
