24 June (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government is launching an intensive campaign
to encourage rainwater collecting in order to improve water conservation and
combat groundwater depletion, according to a statement published here on
Tuesday. According to the statement, the campaign's goal is to provide rooftop
rainwater collecting systems to 2.35 lakh government and semi-government structures
throughout the state. These systems are now in place in over 34,000 public
buildings, with plans to expand to over one lakh more in the coming months,
according to the statement. According to the statement, this program is an
important step in replenishing groundwater levels and conserving water for
future generations.

districts, including Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Amethi,
Gonda, Balrampur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar,
Azamgarh, Ballia, Jhansi, and Pilibhit, have met the 100% target for rainwater
harvesting installation in all eligible government buildings. According to the
announcement, Uttar Pradesh's Jal Shakti Department is launching the Catch the
Rain-2025 program to promote rainwater collecting. As part of this strategy,
rainwater collecting devices will be installed in various government and
semi-government buildings. According to
the proposal, these systems would be installed in over lakh buildings soon.
