Kokrajhar (Assam), 24 June (HS): The protest of the local people against the proposal to allot land to Adani Group for the construction of a thermal power project at Pagalijhora in Bansbari area of Parbatjhora continues.
Recently, after the Assam government and BTR Council government came to light to allocate 3000 bighas of land to Adani Group for the project, the people of the local Bodo community have strongly opposed this decision.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma made a statement that if the people of BTR do not want the project, it will be taken to Dhubudi or Goalpara. Despite this, the protesters are talking about continuing the agitation till they get written assurance.
Meanwhile, today Bodo language singers Bigrai Brahma and Gautam Brahma protested against the government through songs at the agitation site.
The protesters thanked the Chief Minister for understanding the pain of the people, but at the same time demanded that the project be removed not only from Parbatjhora but from the entire BTR region.
When the Chief Minister said that about 80 families have encroached upon 4000 bighas of land, people reacted that they have been given wrong information and they do not have complete knowledge of the local situation.
At the same time, people also protested against the statement of Pramod Boro, who accused him of doing politics on the movement and instigating people. The protesters said that this movement is not at the instigation of anyone, but to protect the real sentiments and rights of the people. They alleged that Pramod Boro wants to forcibly implement the project by crushing the opposition of the people for personal gain.---------------
