Lucknow,
24 June (HS): Uttar Pradesh is likely to see a significant infrastructure push,
with the state government sanctioning the building of three Rail Over Bridges
(ROBs) and a new Ganga River Bridge aimed at increasing regional connectivity and
reducing traffic congestion. The Yogi Adityanath administration has approved
projects in Balrampur, Kanpur, and Shuklaganj in Unnao, which will be carried
out by the Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation Limited, according to an official
release.
It
stated that thorough project studies have been developed, and that work would
be carried out under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC)
system, with a target completion time of two years. A 629-metre-long, two-lane
ROB on the Tulsipur-Gonda rail segment at Devipatan Dham is planned to be built
at a cost of Rs 57 crore, improving pilgrim access and local mobility.
Kanpur
will build a four-lane ROB on the Kanpur-Central-Rawatpur-Anwarganj rail
segment for Rs 151 crore, coupled with a four-lane flyover on GT Road and a
two-lane flyover at Ghantaghar (Jarib Chowki). A four-lane Ganga river bridge
with approach roads will be built 50 metres upstream of the previous
Kanpur-Shuklaganj bridge at a cost of more than Rs 163 crore, greatly
alleviating traffic congestion between the two towns. These initiatives will
cost more than Rs 372 crore, with Kanpur-specific activities accounting for Rs
315 crore. The initiatives will not only improve road and rail connectivity,
but will also solve long-standing urban mobility issues, resulting in easier
commutes and preparing infrastructure for future demand, according to the
statement.
