Delhi, 24 June (H.S.): The NHRC, India, has taken suo motu cognizance of a report regarding two employee deaths and another hospitalization due to inhaling toxic gas at a Pharmaceutical company's effluent waste treatment plant in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, on June 11, 2025. The workers collapsed after exposure to the gas released during waste treatment.
The Commission has recognized serious human rights violations, prompting it to issue notices to the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and the Anakapalli Superintendent of Police for a detailed report within two weeks. This report should cover the injured worker's health status and any compensation provided to the deceased's families.
