Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met with President Droupadi Murmu concerning the state's bills.


New Delhi, June 24 (H.S.): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday and sought her approval for key bills passed by the state legislature. A photo of the formal meeting between the two leaders was shared on the President's official X handle.

Siddaramaiah also posted, “I met President Droupadi Murmu today at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi and discussed the pending bills for approval. On this occasion, I presented her with a Mysore Peta and sandalwood mementos, which are a pride of the state.”

The bills awaiting the President's approval include several legislative measures related to education, mining taxation, public procurement transparency, and administrative reforms. Approval from the central government is considered necessary for these. Key bills presented to the President include the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Karnataka Amendment) Bill 2025, which aims to revise the existing RTE framework in the state.

Additionally, the Karnataka (Mineral Rights and Mineral-rich Land) Tax Bill 2024 aims to increase revenue from the state’s mineral resources, while the Karnataka Public Procurement Transparency (Amendment) Act 2025 is designed to ensure greater transparency and accountability in the government procurement process. The legislative package also includes the Registration (Karnataka Amendment) Bills 2024 and 2025, as well as the Notaries (Karnataka Amendment) Bill 2025, focused on simplifying and digitizing the document registration process. It also aims to enhance and make notary services more efficient and effective from an administrative perspective.

Moreover, the Karnataka Hindi Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments (Amendment) Bill 2024 is included in the list of bills seeking the President's approval. It is a step towards improving the management of religious and charitable institutions in the state.
