New Delhi, June 24(HS): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts increased monsoon activity nationwide from June 24 to 28, with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall expected in various regions. Western India, particularly the Konkan, central Maharashtra, and Gujarat, is predicted to face extremely heavy rainfall on June 24, continuing with heavy rainfall in Konkan, Goa, and parts of Maharashtra until June 30.

Northwest India, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, will see heightened rainfall from June 24 to 30, with heavy rainfall also anticipated in Jammu and Kashmir and surrounding areas from June 25 to 27. Eastern Rajasthan and adjacent areas will experience heavy rains, along with strong winds reaching 30-40 km per hour, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

In eastern and central India, heavy rainfall is expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh from June 24 to 28, with particularly intense rainfall in West Bengal and Sikkim on specific dates. Northeast India will experience moderate to heavy rainfall and potential strong winds, while South India will see heavy rains in Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, with Tamil Nadu facing very heavy rainfall on June 27 and 28. Wind speeds in certain regions may reach 40-60 km per hour. Overall, the country is preparing for a significant increase in monsoon activity and related weather events.
