Imphal, 24 June (HS): Security forces in Manipur have intensified the drive against extremist activities and extortion. In this regard, two Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) outfits were arrested in separate operations.
Police PRO said on Tuesday that based on intelligence input, Sadokpam Manoj Meitei (23) was arrested from a residence at Sagolband Moirang Hanuba in Lamfel police station area of Imphal West district. A mobile phone and two SIM cards were seized from him.
At the same time, KCP outfit Nongthombam Roshanta Singh (45) was arrested from Kiam Sifai Khong Ahanbi area of Thoubal police station area of Thoubal district. He is originally a resident of Huikap Makha Lekai of Andro police station area. Two mobile phones, two SIM cards and a wallet were recovered from him.
Officials said that this action has been taken with the aim of eliminating the extortion network in the state and maintaining peace and order. Interrogation of both the arrested cadres is going on and further investigation is also being done.
