Dehradun, June 21 (HS): On the 11th International Yoga Day, Uttarakhand embraced yoga across its landscapes, from mountains to plains. In Dehradun, President Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led yoga sessions along with various international ambassadors.
Pilgrimage sites such as Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath were also venues for yoga practice, reflecting widespread enthusiasm.
The President participated in a morning yoga session at the Dehradun police line, joined by Governor Gurmeet Singh and Minister Subodh Uniyal. She emphasized Uttarakhand as the nexus of yoga and heritage, presenting it as a testament to India’s soft power, fostering connections among people and nations while highlighting the health benefits of yoga for families and the nation.
General Gurmeet Singh reaffirmed yoga’s ancient cultural significance in promoting global unity and encouraged youth to integrate it into daily life for a healthier India. Minister Uniyal introduced India's first yoga policy-2025, aimed at creating a yoga entrepreneurship and research hub. The day's main event in Bharadisain included international diplomats, Chief Minister Dhami, Minister Rawat, and other dignitaries, with Dhami launching the 'Har Ghar Yoga, Har Jan Nirog' campaign. He praised yoga as an invaluable heritage that enhances physical health and positive well-being, urging its global adoption nurtured in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister also visited apple cultivation projects, emphasizing Uttarakhand's potential for apple farming and soliciting feedback from local residents on state development initiatives. This comprehensive celebration underscored the importance of yoga in fostering health and harmony in society.
