Kolkata, 21 June (H.S.):

West Bengal Governor Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of International Yoga Day 2025, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pivotal role in elevating the ancient Indian discipline of yoga to global prominence.

In his official message, Governor Bose reflected on the landmark moment in 2014 when the United Nations adopted PM Modi’s proposal to designate June 21 as International Yoga Day. “Since then, yoga has transcended its origins as a personal spiritual practice to become a universal symbol of unity,” he stated.

Emphasizing yoga’s holistic benefits, the Governor noted, “What was once an individual pursuit has now evolved into a global phenomenon that unites the mind, body, and spirit.” He stressed the importance of the day as a reminder that true wealth lies in a healthy body and a peaceful mind. “Yoga not only strengthens the body but also stabilizes the mind and clarifies our thoughts,” he added.

This year’s celebrations were held under the theme “Yoga Sangam 2025: One Earth, One Health,” highlighting the universal relevance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being. Governor Bose remarked that millions across India—from bustling cities to remote villages—are practicing yoga in unison, adding, “It feels as though the entire nation is breathing together.”

Expressing pride in the participation of Raj Bhavan, Kolkata, in this global movement, Dr. Bose described the initiative as a powerful step not only for health but also for world peace and collective welfare. “Yoga is an inclusive practice accessible at any age, and with proper guidance, even a few minutes a day can rejuvenate both body and mind,” he said.

Concluding his message, the Governor proclaimed, “Today, India is united in the spirit of yoga—whether in cities or villages, mountains or plains, among the rich or the poor. No one is alone, not in India, and not in the world. Yoga has bound us into one global family.”

He urged citizens to make yoga an inseparable part of their lives—“everywhere, always, and together.”
