Lucknow,
21 June (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that yoga is a unique gift of
Indian wisdom. By making yoga a medium of public welfare, India paved the way
for world welfare. This is the reason that today on the 11th International Yoga
Day, not only India but about 190 countries of the world are feeling proud by
associating with the heritage of Indian yoga. CM Yogi was addressing yoga
practitioners and trainees before practicing yoga at Gorakhnath temple on
Saturday morning on the 11th International Yoga Day. The Chief Minister
congratulated the people of the state on International Yoga Day.
In the program
organized at Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Auditorium, he said that yoga is such a
mantra of the Rishi tradition of India which provides a healthy mind along with
a healthy body. Indian wisdom has explained the importance of yoga in detail
since ancient times and said, 'Sharirmadyam Khalu Dharma Sadhanam'. (The body
itself is the means of following religion). CM Yogi said that the attainment of
all the four Purusharthas of human life, Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha is
possible only with a healthy body. A healthy body is the medium of worldly
progress and spiritual upliftment. Be it public welfare through earning money,
fulfillment of desires or the path to salvation, a healthy body is the medium
for all these. He said that yoga is the work of making the body a means of
following religion and achieving the four Purusharthas. Bharti made this yoga a
medium of public welfare and then paved the way for world welfare through it. The
Chief Minister said that today different dimensions of yoga are seen. Indian
wisdom made the world aware of the higher dimension of consciousness through
yoga. From personality development to revealing the mysteries of the universe,
the rich knowledge of yoga was presented as heritage in the Vedas, Upanishads,
Puranas, Smritis and scriptures.
CM
Yogi said that the credit for taking the ancient Indian tradition of yoga
forward in the modern era goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At a time when
outsiders started patenting yoga postures and India was being deprived of its
heritage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the initiative in the United
Nations and got yoga global recognition. It was due to the efforts of PM Modi
that International Yoga Day began to be celebrated from 21 June 2015. Today,
not only India, but 190 countries of the world are associated with Yoga Day.
Organizing International Yoga Day is an effort to express gratitude towards the
Rishi tradition of India and connect the coming generation with the heritage.
A
yogic body keeps diseases away: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that it is
possible to get relief from diseases through yoga. It has also been said,
'Neither tasya rogo nor jara nor mrityu: praptasya yogagrimayam shariram' (The
body toned by yoga practice becomes free from disease, old age and death). The
CM said that it was a good fortune for him to be associated with the yoga
program on the holy land of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath on International Yoga Day
