Imphal, 2 June (HS): In a significant counter-insurgency operation, Manipur security forces apprehended three rebels of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) outfit group near the Indo-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district.
According to the information provided by the Manipur Police PRO the arrested rebels have been identified as Aheibam Ajay Singh (25) from Sugnu Awang Mandop Leikai in Kakching district, Leikhuram Johnson Meitei (22) of Moirang Tronglaobi Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district and Sagolsem Sanajaoba Singh (26) hailing from Singjamei Akampat Leikai in Imphal West.
Security personnel simultaneously launched combing operations and area dominance across vulnerable zones in both hill and valley regions.
During a sweep in Khuangmun under Churachandpur Police Station, forces recovered a cache of weapons and explosives. The haul included one .303 rifle with an empty magazine, four single barrel guns, three improvised long-range mortars, two IEDs weighing three and one kilograms respectively, two live Pompi rounds, bulletproof jackets with plates, a helmet, ammunition pouches and a Baofeng radio set.
In a separate search near Khumbong Loubuk Lambi Tera Makhong Road under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West, security teams seized a significant arsenal. Among the items recovered were a locally fabricated carbine machine gun with magazine, a double barrel gun, a single barrel gun, a .32 pistol with magazine, two magazines for a 7.62 LMG, a No. 36 HE grenade with detonator, a Chinese hand grenade, two stun grenades and assorted ammunition— including rounds of 9 mm, AK rifle, .45 mm, and .22 calibers.
Additionally, the team found three bulletproof vests, six bulletproof plates (two iron and four fibre), and sets of camouflage clothing.
These coordinated operations reflect the sustained efforts of security forces to dismantle insurgent networks and ensure lasting peace in the region.---------------
