Bankura, 2 June (H.S.):The police of Chhatna police station of Bankura district arrested a tailor on Sunday night for raping a seven-year-old minor. The minor's family has demanded death penalty for the accused.
According to local sources, on Sunday, the minor's family was sleeping at home in the afternoon. The minor had gone to the tailor's shop in the neighborhood in search of clothes to play with her doll. At that time, a 57-year-old tailor named Sheikh Ahiya took the minor to the shop by showing her a piece of cloth. Then he pulled down the shutter of the shop and allegedly raped the minor. Later, as soon as the matter came to light, the victim's family reached Chhatna police station and lodged a written complaint against Sheikh Ahiya. After receiving the complaint, the police took action. The accused was arrested on Sunday night. The police of Chhatna police station registered a case against the accused under Section 65(2) of the BNS and Section 4/6 of the POCSO Act and presented him in the Bankura District Court on Monday.
