Amravati, 02 June (HS): About 2,500 packets of

banned HBTB seeds worth Rs 25 lakh were seized from a private bus in Amravati.

The seeds were being transported from Ahmedabad to Nagpur. The vigilance

department of the Agriculture Department seized the packets in Amravati. An

offence relating to the illegal transport and use of the banned seeds has been registered.

The seed packets bear names of Agro Seeds,

Ahmedabad, and was to be delivered to Amitbhai in Nagpur. 6.400 empty printed plastic

packets were also seized. The packets from Sai Creations, Ahmedabad, were to be

delivered to Raju Bharmase in Nagpur. . The bus driver handed over a sealed

envelope, which he was assigned to deliver to the place where the goods

were to be unloaded. The envelope had the names of the company that loaded the

goods and the receiver's name in Nagpur. Six such raids were conducted within

a month by the Agriculture Department at different places to detect the illegal

supply of seeds.
