Delhi, 2 June (H.S.): The NHRC, India has taken suo motu notice of a report concerning a nine-year-old rape and assault victim who died at Patna Medical College and Hospital on June 1, allegedly after waiting for hours in an ambulance for treatment. She was victimized in Muzaffarpur on May 26, 2025, and admitted in critical condition on May 30. The Commission found the allegations raise serious human rights concerns and has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, Bihar, demanding a detailed report within two weeks. The same perpetrator had previously assaulted a 12-year-old girl and attempted to kill her.
