JNARDDC Host Special Interactive Meet with Non-Ferrous Recycling Stakeholders in Hyderabad

Delhi, 2 June (H.S.): The Recycling Promotion Division of JNARDDC organized a workshop in Hyderabad to engage non-ferrous recycling stakeholders, focusing on modernizing and supporting the recycling sector. The session highlighted the recycling industry's energy efficiency in comparison to primary production, emphasizing its role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and aiding India's climate goals. As the nodal agency for metal recycling, JNARDDC is promoting innovation and is establishing a demonstration plant for advanced recycling technologies.

Dr. Anupam Agnihotri, director of JNARDDC, stressed the need for transitioning from informal to formalized, technology-driven operations, positioning JNARDDC as a supportive partner rather than an enforcer. The workshop reflects the Ministry's commitment to making India a leader in sustainable resource use, involving all stakeholders in achieving national objectives like carbon neutrality and economic growth.

Participants included key industry associations such as TAUMA, ALEMAI, and MRAI, where JNARDDC presented recent research in aluminum recycling technologies. An open session allowed recyclers to discuss various challenges around operations and regulations, with insights from the Bureau of Indian Standards on relevant Quality Control Orders. Guided by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, this collaborative effort aims to enhance the resilience and global competitiveness of India's metal recycling industry.
