New Delhi, June 2 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Paraguay's President Santiago Peña Palacios held talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, emphasizing their united stance against terrorism. They discussed enhancing cooperation in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, technology, renewable energy, health, critical minerals, railways, and people-to-people connections. President Peña condemned a recent terrorist attack in India and expressed solidarity. Both leaders exchanged views on mutual global and regional interests, with Modi highlighting Paraguay as a key partner in South America and noting their shared democratic ideals and commitment to public welfare. They identified new collaborative opportunities in economic, digital, energy, agriculture, health, defense, railways, and space sectors. Modi mentioned India's Preferential Trade Agreement with MERCOSUR, suggesting potential expansion.

The Prime Minister stressed their joint efforts against shared challenges like cybercrime, organized crime, and drug trafficking, asserting both nations are integral parts of the Global South with shared hopes and challenges. He noted India's vaccine support to Paraguay during the COVID pandemic and emphasized further shared capabilities. Modi expressed confidence that Peña's visit would fortify bilateral ties and enrich India-Latin America relations, recalling his participation in last year's CARICOM Summit focused on cooperative enhancement.
